Yaman raag

Yaman raag is one of the most famous raag in indian classical music and first preference for music composers. It is also one of the most fundamental raag of indian classical music and usually taught at beginner level. This raag belongs to Kalyan thaat and it is also called as Kalyan Raag.

The progression of this raag begins from lower octave swara ni  and goes to higher octave leaving Pa swara of middle octave. ni Re  and  Pa Re  combination repeatedly used in this raag.

There is still some discussion whether Yaman and Kalyan are two different names of the same raag or these two are different raag. Actually these two are different raag. When there is use of only Teevra Ma(t) in the Raag, it is Yaman raag and when Ma and Ma(t) are used together ,then this raag becomes Yaman Kalyan
