ToggleWhat is Abhogi Kanada raag ?
This raag came from Carnatic Music to Hindustani Classical Music. This raag is a mixture of two raags, Raga Abhogi from Carnatic music and Raga Kanada from Hindustani Classical.
The Carnatic and Hindustani Abhogis have almost identical Aaroh and Avroh. As it has Carnatic raag Ang, Gandhar is used as Vakra: Ga(k) Ma Re Sa.
Some musicians sing this Raag without the Carnatic raag Ang (Ga(k) Ma Re Sa) rendering Ma Ga(k) Re Sa instead and call it Abhogi rather then its full name. The notes of this raga should be applied carefully and the essence of the raga should be maintained.
There are some similarities with raag Bageshri . However, Bageshri also includes komal Ni(k) and limited use of Pa, which give it a different flavour.
This Raag can be expanded in all three octaves.
